One of Finland's best known resorts, Pyhä is found on the edge of the Arctic Circle in Lapland within the Pyhätunturi National Park, an area of unspoilt and dramatic landscapes. It is a wilderness of frozen lakes and snow covered forests and is totally unspoilt offering a unique adventure skiing adventure. Pyhä (pronounced 'poo-ha') offers a different skiing experience with downhill and cross-country skiing as well as other winter pursuits to keep you occupied. Phyä will suit those looking for an all-round winter holiday with a distinctive Lapp flavour.

The experience
Après Ski
The après ski is always a lively affair, with plenty of music. Try Ski Bistro, the Hotel Pyhä's après ski bar often with live music.
Activities
Plenty of winter activities. Snowmobiling includes the full arctic suits, boots, helmets and a valid driving license is required for the driver. There are activities for children including husky sledding and visits in December to see Santa.
Eating out
There is a choice of restaurants. Sample the region's local specialities particularly the fish and game where master chefs cook up dream delicacies with vegetables, berries and mushrooms.
Other amenities
Ice fishing is unusual but a fun pastime. You can also visit the nearby Amethyst Mines or even Santa's Grotto.

Travel by snowmobile sleigh through the forest then follow a candlelit path to the cottage. Each family meets Santa separately and there is a present for the children.

Pyhä Orientation Snowmobile Safari (2 hours)
A guide takes you through picturesque forests laden with snow, across the frozen Pyhäjarvi lake and around the fells.
Visit to Husky and Reindeer Farm (2 hours)
Enjoy an informative talk on the dogs and a 500 metre sleigh ride then move on to the reindeer farm area for a presentation and then a 15 minutes reindeer sleigh ride.

The slopes
Beginners
The uncrowded pistes make Pyhä a fun resort in which to learn to ski.
The English speaking ski school will soon get you on your skis.
Intermediates
The immaculately groomed pistes in the whole area provide plenty of scope to work on techniques, ideal for the established skier with beautiful tree lined runs and no lift queues.
Advanced
The vertical drop provides extreme skiing and the off-piste area of Pyhä ensures some fantasic snow conditions throughout the whole season. You'll particularly enjoy the challenges of the runs on the western side of the mountain.
Snowboarding
Freestylers will enjoy the half pipe with high walls and good transition in addition to the off-piste areas.
