Winter in Iso-Syöte is an experience you'll never forget. Amazing snow-sculptures where the snow builds up over the trees, the dance of the Northern Lights, cosy cabins with invigorating saunas and unique Arctic Adventures to try. Located approximately 150 kilometres from the Arctic Circle, Iso-Syöte is Finland's southernmost fell region where the blanket of snow covering the trees and landscape transforms nature into a fairytale land. It is a great place to learn to ski and experience adventure activities in a winter wonderland location.

Most of the activity take place around the hotel which has a night club if you wish to dance the night away.

Cross Country Skiing

A network of over 120 km of well prepared, maintained and well marked cross-country ski tracks are at your disposal. Go and enjoy the beautiful landscape as cross-country skiing brings you much closer to nature. The tracks will take you along snow-sculptures made by nature, over hilltops with amazing views and crossing frozen lakes where you may even run in to some ice-fishermen. If you fancy a break then there are several shelters to stop at and enjoy the purity and silence of the winter wonderland around you.

Family choice

Iso-Syöte is a wonderful family resort with the hotel, cabins and services right next to the slopes. There are two dedicated children's ski slopes as well as a snow tube park which is great fun. Visit the Children's Nature Trail on the edge of the national park and learn about the winter activities of the local animals. There is also a great range of activities to be enjoyed making this the perfect destination for adults and children alike.

Snowmobile drivers must be over 16 and have parental permission if under 18. Children under 12 pay half the adult price. With snowmobiles, children must be strong enought to hold on and can be taken as a passenger.

The slopes

Beginners

Skiing in Iso-Syöte is mainly suited to beginners with smooth runs down the fell. There are two dedicated family runs.

Intermediates

(Crystal rating 3)

Ski from the hotel and cabins. There are well groomed slopes and the Freeride run through the trees will delight you.

Advanced

(Crystal rating 2)

There is not a great amount of challenging skiing but 7 slopes are floodlit until 7pm or 8pm in high season on many evenings so you can enjoy the amazing dark Arctic sky with crisp snow under your skis.

Snowboarding

(Crystal rating 3)

Try some tricks on Snowboard Street and the board park with half pipe, corners, boxes and rails. Slope 15 is a dedicated slope for freeriders.
